President, Park Jung-hee

Park Jung-hee was a 5th, 6th, 7th ,8th president of South Korea from 1961 to 1979. He was married to Yuk Young-soo, and had two daughters and one son. When he was young, he graduated from the Daegu Teacher’s Gymnasium, which was a favored high school for prospective primary teachers. After that he was worked as a teacher, but he changed his mind that enrolled in the Army Academy. Because of this, his life was changed. In the army, he rose steadily through the ranks, eventually reaching the rank of general. Then, he led a military coup on May 16, 1961, and he seized government. He ruled South Korea in 18years and 5months.

Under his leadership, South Korea industry saw remarkable development. After Korean war, South Korea was very poor. Therefore, they haven’t capital for industry. Intending to acquire money and technology for South Korea via Japanese grants and soft loans, he normalized diplomatic relations with Japan I 1965. And he got money and technology from Japan. It is kind a compensation for Japan’s colonization of Korea. However, many Koreans criticized it What, because they never agreed with that agreement. Worse still, after that South Korea developed economic growth. During his regime, a large number of South Koreans experienced industrial and economic growth. Because of this, many South Koreans consider Park Jung-hee is the one of the greatest leaders in Korea history.

Continuing his rule, he made Yusin constitution for extending his power. The new document dramatically increased his power. And then, many Koreans disagree with Yusin constitution. They start to demonstrate. About 10,000 mostly students and workers demonstrate and join the struggle against the Yusin System. Finally, on Oct 26, 1979, Park Jung-hee was shot by Kim Jae-kyu, the director of the KCIA.

Park Jung-hee. His early life was ordinary, Middle-age life was impressive, and last was cruel. His wife, Yook Young-soo was shot like him. After her death, the first daughter Park Kun-hye became a first lady of South Korea. Since Park Jung-hee’s death, she disappeared through history. Then, she came out politician. Last election she tried to become a first woman president of South Korea, but failed. This year, she runs for presidency. There is much attention towards the development of the incident.
